Free CV Tips: with age comes experience

...Of course, we all know that simply removing your date of birth is fine in one respect, but if you have 30 or 40 years of work experience a simple flick through the pages will reveal everything ever done in your working life because we still tend to put dates against each job or responsibility, and therefore it is a simple matter to deduce the age of the applicant...

...Read the job description very carefully and look for areas of your experience that are an appropriate match. List the last 10 years' experience in a clear and easy to read (bullet point) fashion making sure you cover every requirement you can with specific examples...

...Avoid "added value" statements such as "In addition I can. . ." Stick to the facts and avoid listing personal attributes. Do not try to over-impress – keep it simple, factual, tailored and actual. When sending your CV with an accompanying letter of application, do not use the letter to draw your experience out of your CV. If the reader is put off by the letter, the CV won't get read! Keep all relevant information within the CV...
